Community guidelines

What we allow, what we remove, and how to appeal.

What we expect

Informed Voices is for structured, respectful debate. We want people to engage with the motion and with each other’s arguments—not with insults or noise.

  • Stay on topic: contributions should relate to the motion being debated.
  • Be respectful: you can disagree strongly without attacking the person.
  • Support your view: arguments, evidence, and questions help everyone.

Sources and links

You may include links to sources (articles, data, official pages) in your post. Keep links relevant to the motion and use them to back up your argument. We do not endorse external sites; we may remove links that are spam, harmful, or off-topic.

What we remove

We will remove or hide content that breaks our standards. When you report a post, you can choose a reason. We act on:

  • Spam — Promotional content, off-platform links used to drive traffic, or repeated posting of the same thing.
  • Personal attacks / ad hominem — Insults, threats, or targeting someone because of who they are rather than their argument.
  • Misinformation — Claims presented as fact that are demonstrably false and harmful in the context of the debate.
  • Off-topic — Content that does not relate to the motion or the debate.
  • Other — Anything else that undermines safe, constructive debate.

If your post is removed, we will notify you and, where possible, explain the reason. Repeated or serious breaches can lead to restrictions on your account.

Appeals

If you believe your post was removed in error, you can ask us to review the decision. Use our contact form and choose or add the subject Appeal moderation. Include the debate and a short explanation. We will get back to you and, where appropriate, reinstate content or explain our decision.
